About the role

Plan International Netherlands is looking for a solution-driven multitasker to join our dynamic humanitarian team as a Humanitarian Grants Manager. In this role, you’ll manage complex donor grants and humanitarian consortia focused on (adolescent) girls in crisis. You thrive under pressure, collaborate  easily across departments, and are confident navigating grants, compliance, quality assurance, and advocacy.

You’ll coordinate multi-stakeholder programmes, support donor proposal development, and ensure implementation is effective, donor compliant, and aligned with Plan’s gender-transformative ambition. You will work closely with our Country Offices, the Project Finance and Knowledge & Learning teams, and liaise with key institutional donors such as ECHO, the Dutch Relief Alliance, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and foundations.

Our ideal candidate is a strong connector and coordinator, operates with a high sense of team spirit, and makes informed decisions independently. Prior experience in the humanitarian sector is essential, preferably within a dual-mandate organisation. The position is based in Amsterdam, with occasional travel to programme countries when required and feasible.

Day-to-day activities:

  • Manage and monitor humanitarian programmes and consortia in collaboration with Country Offices and partners, ensuring quality implementation and donor compliance;
  • Support grant acquisition and proposal development in coordination with internal teams and (external) partners;
  • Ensure programme quality and mainstream gender mainstreaming in implementation, monitoring, and donor reporting;
  • Liaise with donors and represent Plan International in consortia, donor meetings, and advocacy spaces;
  • Provide technical input to country offices on programme implementation, compliance, and monitoring;
  • Contribute to capacity strengthening, knowledge sharing, and innovation in emergencies, in coordination with COs and internal teams;
  • Monitor developing crises and coordinate the preparation and launch of emergency fundraising campaigns in collaboration with other departments and country offices.
  • Drive policy development and capacity building by rolling out lobby and advocacy strategies, strengthening networks, and promoting gender inclusive approaches.

What you bring:
The position requires you to be an excellent communicator and networker, comfortable representing Plan’s core values and standpoints in international alliances, and have a natural talent for coordinating complex partnerships. You are a true problem solver, results-driven and team-oriented, with existing knowledge of the (Dutch) humanitarian sector and donor landscape. Plan International fosters an organisational culture rooted in racial justice, gender equality, girls’ rights, and inclusion. The ideal candidate embraces and actively upholds these commitments.

You also meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree/Applied Science or Master’s degree in international development or equivalent;
  • At least 5 years’ experience in humanitarian programming and grant management (incl. in-country);
  • Experience leading or managing consortia, partnerships, or large and complex grants;
  • Proven track record in donor relations, grant management and proposal development;
  • Excellent coordination, communication and problem-solving skills;
  • Familiarity with CHS, IHL, SPHERE and humanitarian coordination systems;
  • Fluent in English; Dutch, French, Spanish, Arabic are assets;
  • Ability and willingness to travel to humanitarian crisis project countries at short notice.

Please note that we will only consider applicants who currently have a valid work permit for the Netherlands without exception.
