Business Partnerships Officer

(35 hours a week)

Your Challenge

At Plan International, you will contribute to our mission: Improving equal opportunities for children and young people worldwide, with a special focus on girls and women. As Business Partnership Officer, you will drive high-value partnerships and fundraising initiatives within the Dutch private sector. From multinational corporations and corporate foundations to industry associations and SMEs, your goal is to strengthen Plan International’s financial capacity and strategic influence. You will identify and secure new partnerships, deepen existing relationships, and shape innovative engagement models that align corporate priorities with our mission for gender equality and children’s rights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Partnership Development: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with stakeholders in the private sector. Represent Plan International at high-level events and forums, ensuring our brand remains top-of-mind.
  • Revenue Growth & Impact Alignment: (Co-)Design and execute strategies that connect commercial opportunities with social impact. Develop creative, mutually beneficial solutions that advance both corporate objectives and our mission.
  • Executive-Level Pitching & Proposal Leadership: Translate complex development programs into compelling business cases and partnership proposals. Collaborate with internal experts to deliver high-quality propositions tailored to partner needs.
  • Thought Leadership & Advocacy: Position Plan International as a trusted advisor on gender equality and children’s rights within corporate sustainability agendas.
  • Partner Engagement & Stewardship: Ensure existing partners remain engaged and informed through strategic updates, impact reporting, and co-created events. Identify opportunities for scaling and deepening collaboration.
  • Global Collaboration: Where relevant, travel internationally for partnership development and project visits.

Your colleagues:
You will be working with a passionate international team that is convinced of the necessity of development cooperation. We care about each other, work with a strong team spirit, and we believe good interpersonal contact is extremely important. You will be part of the Development Team, consisting of 15 people (a mix of fundraisers and grant managers), focused on development cooperation.

Job requirements

  • Proven Level Experience: At least 7+ years in business development, strategic partnerships, or corporate fundraising, ideally with exposure to both private and non-profit sectors in the Netherlands, but don’t hesitate to apply if you only have experience in the private sector.
  • A self-starter & Networker: An experienced networker, who enjoys engaging their own and developing new networks to create partnerships for high-impact collaborations.
  • Strategic Vision & Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to design and implement partnership strategies in the Dutch context that deliver measurable results.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Skilled in executive-level negotiations, storytelling, and proposal development. Fluency in Dutch and English.
  • Innovation & Influence: Ability to (co-)develop convincing new partnership ideas with business partners, driving alignment and commitment to shared goals.
  • You are a passionate ambassador of our mission and have a strong affinity with themes such as gender equality and children’s rights.

We offer you

  • A great position in an international organization with a pleasant atmosphere;
  • A fulltime position with us means 35 hours. You can schedule these hours flexibly, for example 35 hours in 4 days;
  • Gross monthly salary between €3901,21 and €4600 for 35 hours per week, depending on your experience;
  • Hybrid working; we work from our office in the Baarsjes, Amsterdam, at least 50% of the time. Nice restaurants and the Rembrandtpark (for a nice walk!), are at our doorstep;
  • The option to work remotely for 6 weeks per year after your first year;
  • Participation in the collective pension insurance scheme with Zwitserleven;
  • If your commute is 10 km or more (one way), you will receive an NS business card from us;
  • 5 weeks of holiday per year plus national holidays;
  • The option to participate in the bicycle/scooter scheme;
  • The option to participate in our company fitness scheme;
